North Capitol Main Street Initiative (Ward 5)
North of Massachusetts Avenue, or NoMA, is quickly becoming Washington, DC ’s own Silicon Valley. The Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood will include retail, arts and housing, while the area north of Union Station—which will accommodate a new Metrorail station at New York Avenue—is home to high-tech businesses, information technology services, and other communications companies.
Union Station anchors this district with its retail shops, movie theaters and AMTRAK, MARC and Metrorail service. The neighborhood’s proximity to downtown, developable land and surrounding major developments will all contribute to NoMA’s success. NoMA welcomes emerging technology firms to conduct business amongst a mix of culture, shopping and a diverse, highly skilled workforce.
